Let your light shine

We are called as Christians to be examples to the world; our daily living and lifestyle should be exemplary to the world and not the other way round. This has nothing to do with superiority or pride. In fact, Christians are not in any way superior to non-Christians as we are all made in the image of God (Christians and non-Christians alike). Christians merely ought to lead as a matter of principle.

According to Hebrews 11:3

“Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.”

If the world you and I live in—and every other world that is being discovered—was framed by the word of God, then it follows that this world cannot expect to function effectively without the word?

The word gives guidance on how to live life: everything ranging from work ethic and finances to relationships and more. We as believers ought to lead with our lives, driven by the word.

Many Christians today look to other people for guidance on how to succeed and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. However, what we fail to realise sometimes is that the very people we look to apply themselves to the principles of the bible. Individuals who, on the other hand, fail to follow these principles because they perceive themselves to be exempt for whatever reason experience a very different outcome. These biblical principles are there for anyone!

They are not person specific but method specific. Irrespective of who applies the method, the result is the same.

As a Christian, beyond professing what you believe or desire to see happen, you will need to walk by the principles of your profession to see results.

Matthew 5:14-16 AMP

“You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good deeds and moral excellence, and [recognize and honour and] glorify your Father who is in heaven.

You have a responsibility to allow what you have on the inside to flowout. No one is going to force it out. You have to let it out (through profession and principle).

When we walk in fellowship with the Holy Spirit in us, the outcome is good works! Not based on performance but an overflow of God’s goodness in and through us.

  1. Hmm. Only if we know that the earth is a temporary place. We will leave everything and all we think we are. The earth is but a mirage. What’s permanent? Our walk with God. Let us be more humane for God gave us two very important commandments. They are to love the Lord our God and to love our neighbour as we love ourselves. Love people, inspire and encourage people, celebrate people, steer people onto God’s path. Ecc. 12: 13b says fear God and keep His commandments: for this is the WHOLE duty of man. May God help us.

  2. Thank you for letting your light shine through this blog.

God’s principles set life in order. They bring harmony, peace and prosperity into His world.

It’s clear to me that the further people move away from the principles in God’s word, the darker their society gets. People often move away from His principles in what they falsely believe to be a move towards greater freedom.

However, a move away from God’s principles is actually a move towards disorder, chaos, strife and fear and ultimately as trust in society erodes – less freedom.

The only light of the world is Christians who live their lives in union with Christ. So letting our light shine brightly brings hope to lost people.

It also encourages me to think that when God looks at me in His world, He sees me incandescent with His light😊
