In my last blog, I started to look at the man Jesus referred to as ‘a certain man’. This man was left to die on the road(Luke 10:30) and as cruel as this may sound, this is the state of any person who has not received the gift of salvation. Life outside Christ can be likened to this man’s experience: on the outside, things may look alright but spiritually be dead and disconnected from God, resulting in exposure to Satan and his devices.

Verse 33 of Luke chapter 10 is intriguing for me as the man’s actions were very intentional. It says:

“But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion.”

At the time of this story, the Jews considered themselves superior to the Samaritans and would have no dealings of any sort with them. Yet here the help this certain man needed came from a Samaritan, someone who would have been least considered to step in. This is so similar to how God came for humanity, in a form least expected and with so much compassion for man. God came to humanity in the person of Jesus to rescue mankind from the claws of despair caused by sin.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-17 NKJV

Christ’s compassion brought about our salvation and redemption and all we have to do is believe (Romans 10:9).

If we go back to Luke 10:34 NKJV: “So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him.”

The first thing the Samaritan did was go “to him and [bandage] his wounds”…

Jesus has come to you today, he hasn’t left you to die on your own. You may be feeling that you are all alone and that nobody sees you or understands you. I have got good news for you!

Jesus has come to you today and He is not here to question you and find out why and how you took turns that got you here. He is here specially to heal your wounds. Would you hand over those wounds to him? Will you accept his care for you? 

Some wounds are so buried away that sometimes some people forget they still carry them, until an occasion arises where that area is confronted and they have a complete meltdown. Instead of hiding your wounds, give them to The One who cared enough and still cares to take them away.

Is there no balm in Gilead, Is there no physician there? Why then is there no recovery For the health of the daughter of my people?

Jeremiah 8:22 NKJV

Jesus is our balm; the one who heals wounds. His desire is that you live a life free of wounds. A healthy mind and a healthy body are possible.
