Our seal of promise

I was reading the book of Exodus, and the last three verses of the last chapter caught my attention

“Now whenever the cloud lifted from the Tabernacle, the people of Israel would set out on their journey, following it. [37] But if the cloud did not rise, they remained where they were until it lifted. [38] The cloud of the LORD hovered over the Tabernacle during the day, and at night fire glowed inside the cloud so the whole family of Israel could see it. This continued throughout all their journeys.”
Exodus 40: 36- 38 NLT

My first thought reading this was, ” How cool is that, to have such visible presence direct you always.” I almost wanted to be jealous of the
Israelites for their experience when I felt an ever so slightly yet firm nudge and assurance in my inside reminding me that I have more. Yes, we have something more than the cloud and the fire which the Israelites had, you ( if you are born again), and I have the Holy Spirit. The presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer is as real as the cloud and fire were real to the Israelites. Did you know that the Israelites had to watch the tabernacle constantly to observe when the cloud lifted so they could move too ? The principle hasn’t changed. As believers, we need to be sensitive enough to listen to and hear the Holy Spirit for instructions and directions.
In the above chapter in Exodus, the last line said, “This continued throughout all their journeys.” Guess what, that hasn’t changed either. The Holy Spirit has been given to every believer as a seal of promise . Promise of what you might ask?
“The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.”
Ephesians 1: 14 NLT

God has made a promise to us through His word and to assure us of His faithfulness to that promise, He gave us the Holy spirit just as a man gives a lady a ring as a seal of his commitment . The Holy Spirit in you, is God’s promise to you that God is invested in you, that His word is true , and some of the promises of that word is that you have been blessed with every spiritual blessings in heavenly places. You were healed by the stripes of Jesus. You are the head and not the tail.

You are not defined by your present state or circumstances rather you are defined by what God calls you. The Holy spirit in you is also proof that you are not a loner, you belong to God.
So , rather than focusing and looking for the spectacular this year, remember you have the supernatural on the inside of you and begin to yield yourself to the supernatural. Listen to the Holy Spirit in the inside of you and start obeying what He says to you. And one of the ways to do this is by studying the word of God; reading the bible. You may have a particular translation of the bible and when you try to read it, it feels like you don’t get anything new, then its time to invest in a different translation. Find another translation from the one you are used to and see how the bible can come

alive again. If you can not invest in one now, then download it on your phone and start reading. It is easier to hear and identify the voice of the Holy Spirit when you know the word and will of God.
So, decide this year, not to walk according to your senses like a carnal person, but to be led by the Holy Spirit. ( by listening to and obeying His instructions ).This may mean at times walking away from something that looks so good( remember not all that glitters is gold) , or staying in a position when others have walked away , bearing in mind, your walk is an individual walk and should not be compared to any other. When you surrender to the leadership of the Holy Spirit, you are guaranteed to live a fruitful, abundant life.

Many Blessings

  1. Difficult to be sure of these blessings because of circumstances or conditions. May God through the Holy Spirit teach us and guide us knowing that our God neither sleeps nor slumbers, amen.
