Your faith has made you well!

“Your faith has made you well” What a statement! Pause for a moment and reflect on that if you would.
This was Jesus speaking to a woman. A woman whose story is well known by almost anyone who has heard any bible story. This nameless woman’s story has been retold in different ways, thousands of times so I will spare you the details and go straight to something that jumped at me when I was reading the book of leviticus . Though Leviticus is an old testament book, I got a better picture of what the nameless woman in the new testament would have gone through. Let’s look at leviticus 15: 25 -26 NLT

“If a woman has a flow of blood for many days that is unrelated to her

menstrual period, or if the blood continues beyond the normal period, she is ceremonially unclean. As during her menstrual period, the woman will be unclean as long as the discharge continues. [26] Any bed she lies on and any object she sits on during that time will be unclean, just as during her normal menstrual period.

Not only was this woman unclean according to the law of Moses, anything she came in contact with became unclean and breaking the law carried a sentence of death by stoning.
So here was a woman who found herself in a desperate situation, with no help whatsoever. She had exhausted every possible avenue known to her for a way out , with no result. Then she heard about Jesus somehow and she had to make a choice ( Mark 5 : 25 – 29 ) We are all faced with choices in the course of our walk here on earth. Some very difficult ones, others, not so difficult , but nevertheless, there are choices to be made. When you hear the word of God( as this woman heard about Jesus) , what choice do you make with it? Everyone’s heart is like a soil. Your heart is a soil; which means that the state of your heart determines the outcome of what you hear. In mark 4: 20(NLT) Those who HEAR and ACCEPT God’s word are described as good soil.
Hearing is one thing, accepting is an entirely different thing. In the case of the woman in our text, she heard about Jesus and made a decision to go against every natural law, that is

accepting what she heard. She probably wasn’t the only one in a situation who heard about Jesus but we are reading about her and not the others today because she was the only one who did something with what she heard.
What choices are you making today with the word , are you mixing it with faith? That is the only time God’s word can bring benefit to you, when it is mixed with faith ( Hebrews 4:2 ) .
By deciding to go to Jesus, This woman activated a higher law than the law of Moses, she activated the law of the Spirit of life ( Romans 8: 2 ) and she received life.
Are you dominated by your senses? Are the things around you bringing you down? what reports are you listening to.

“But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”
1 Corinthians 2: 14 NKJV
Some see this nameless woman’s faith as the time she touched Jesus’s garment, I see the manifestation of her faith from the moment she decided to go and see Jesus. She risked everything in the natural and that is the language of faith. Stepping out, not when everything is clear, rather, stepping out in spite of the roadblocks because the word says so. The Bible says that Faith comes, you don’t need to pursue faith, it will come to you if you keep hearing the word. So rather than imagining the hurdles you have to climb

to attain, simply, change what you hear. Start hearing God’s word and let the word build faith in you.
