Part 2: Self Deception – A huge roadblock to your journey

In concluding the two part series on self-deception, we shall take a look at three more indicators that one is in self deceit, for the purpose of illumination to bring freedom.

4) The next indicator of walking in self deceit is not walking according to the word.

“But don’t just listen to God’s word. You must do what it says. Otherwise, you are only fooling yourselves.
James 1: 22 NLT .

Numerous instances in the bible we see how change and transformation are linked to the application of the word of God; an instance being in Joshua chapter one verse eight where Moses, by God states the recipe to success and prosperity as being the application of the word of God, yet we sometimes today want to walk outside of that as Christians and still expect word results. If you want to experience word results, you will have to walk the word. The word of God is true. It is life, but these can not be experienced by hearing alone. Hearing and doing are two different things, and while hearing is very important, the application of what we hear is the key to walking in victory and success.

5) Talking carelessly is a form of self deceit

“If anyone among you thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one’s
religion is useless.
James 1: 26 NKJV

As humans, we are voice-activated. Our words are meant to be powerful and effective. that’s how God made us. We are meant to command with our words. Just as God’s word never fails, He has designed us that way, that our words should be as effective and impactful, yet that is not always the case and this is due to the fact that we have trained our hearts not to believe our words.

When you talk carelessly, you ultimately deceive your heart as, over time, your heart becomes confused by your words and doesn’t know which word to take seriously or which one to ignore. The Bible says we believe with the heart and confess with the mouth ( Romans 10:10) that’s how it should be and that’s how we see results but when the heart does not believe what the mouth confesses( because it is unsure), our lives can not produce the desired result simply because we are working against ourselves.

Be mindful of the words you speak, train your heart to believe your words by not speaking carelessly, even when the temptation might be strong and you will start seeing positive results when your heart and mouth are in alignment.

6) Not considering consequences is a form of self deceit

“God will never be mocked! For what you plant will always be the very thing you harvest. The harvest you reap reveals
the seed that you planted. If you plant the corrupt seeds of self-life into this natural realm, you can expect a harvest of corruption. If you plant the good seeds of Spirit-life, you will reap beautiful fruits that grow from the everlasting life of the Spirit.”
Galatians 6:7-8 TPT

The beauty of freedom is that you can do whatever you choose to do . Humans have that power of choice, but what we dont have is the power to choose the consequences of our choices/actions. The book of Galatians tells us that we harvest whatever we sow. This should be exciting because it is an assurance that hard work and labour of love don’t go unrewarded. On the other hand, some people have taken to living carelessly,
Without any thought of the consequences of their actions and this is a form of self deceit because just like Galatians says, there is a harvest for every seed sown.
