Life is full of seasons. Some great and some not so great, but every season has its ups and downs, and the aspects you focus on determine your take or perception of that season. Every part of the world experiences different types of seasons , like the United Kingdom for instance goes through four seasons as we know: Spring, summer, autumn and winter and these are as different as they are peculiar.
Spring brings with it the promise of life and hope as the flowers bloom and vegetation grow. Lots of planting take place, and the weather becomes much milder compared to the previous season, yet there is a great increase in weather fluctuations as the rains come and go as they please. For some, it could be the worst time ever as the pollen count goes through the roof, and some suffer all kinds of allergies.
With the fading of spring comes summer, which brings with it the buzz of festivities. Most holidays are observed during this season, and families take advantage of these to engage in activities, travel, and so on. For some, it is simply the pleasure of enjoying the sunshine, yet for others, the heat becomes their source of displeasure. In recent years, the heat of summer though sporadic, have had devastating effect on some.
Summer, however long or shortlived, gradually moves to autumn where the season’s vibrancy like the sun during sunset takes a bow, allowing the cooler weathers. With this change in temperature comes all the other changes as the vibrant leaves begin to give up their colours and eventually their holds on the trees. This happens to be the favourite of some as the weather becomes ‘bearable’, and the summer pace slows down to strolls and casual walks , with the cardigans coming out of the closets.
Some may argue that the season takes away the colours of the previous season yet found in this new season is the beauty of the leaves as they all turn golden brown, falling off their branches, creating the most amazing sights.
As autumn makes its way to the end in preparation of winter , the frosts begin to come as the temperatures drop and along the countryside, you see such breath taking scenery of trees, forests and fields, covered in frost. The ray of autumn sun, piercing through tall tress as if eager to give heat to the leaves and the most beautiful wild lavenders covered in ice.
Soon after, comes winter with the beauty of snow and frost. The streets and shops are covered in decorations as preparations are underway for Christmas. Children rushing to build snowmen and sledging at every opportunity, and this also happens to be the same season where road accidents are increasingly high due to slippery road surfaces and reduced visibility. Some families struggle the most around this time due to the pressure of meeting the demands of the festivities.
As beautiful as each season may be for some, for others, they could be the exact opposite, and this could be likened to our lives as human beings. We go through seasons as humans, some full of excitement and pleasure, and others full of challenges.
It is important to note that for every challenge, a doorway of escape has already been made available if only we are looking. If we realise that we have God on our side and He is for us and not against us, then our attitude towards whatever season we find ourselves will be influenced positively and as scriptures say, we will rejoice, not in the challenge but in the God who is able not just to bring us out but who is able to bring beauty out of every season.
“Be cheerful with joyous celebration in every season of life. Let your joy overflow!”
