Every new year comes for most with a chance for a new start, and 2024 is no exception. People generally tend to have new resolutions, dreams, plans , aspirations, etc. Health and fitness industries have high projections in sales this season as people are more motivated than ever to jump on trends and regimes that promise the goal they desire.

In the short term, people tend to fly, as all around , the buzz of the new beginning is very contegious, but as time goes by, like a sprinter doing a marathon, speed begins to become irrelevant and things like determination and courage begin to surface.

In my book DREAM AGAIN, I have an entire chapter talking about courage and how it is needed if you want to achieve . I recently came across a quote that I found really interesting, and it reads:

“Courage doesn’t always roar.
Sometimes courage is the quiet
voice at the end of the day saying
I will try again tomorrow.”

As you start the year, I would urge you to arm yourself with this definition of courage and have a mind, willing and ready to keep doing and trying until you get results. Having a door wide open is simply not enough. You have to go through that door, and sometimes to go through it requires a lot more than a hype and a puff.

According to the Mariam Webster dictionary, courage is  mental or moral strength to resist opposition, danger, or hardship. courage implies firmness of mind and will in the face of danger or extreme difficulty.

With every vision and dream come resistance and opposition, that is a fact and unfortunately, sometimes, those resistance come from within us due to our being ‘set in our ways’ and not flexible to change.

Courage, in this instance, would be the ability and willingness to move yourself out of your own way by making tough choices this year. Some choices may seem very unpopular, but they may be the ones you need, coupled with consistency to produce results.

Wake up every day ready to do it over again if that’s what it takes.
