Your testimony is your weapon

For those who have followed my blog, you would remember that my first ever blog post was the story of my journey through my second pregnancy and the story leading to the birth and after. You can read all about how God kept me and my baby through 20 weeks of bleeding in pregnancy and the battle after birth in my blog titled ‘My story’.

One of my take homes through this experience is that God supernaturally kept me, and I experienced His love and had a chance to stand on God’s word and promises and witness them manifest in my life. This is my testimony,  my story of the goodness of God and one of the things that this does for me is that it gives me confidence if faced with a challenge,  that I can depend on God and on His word to see that challenge sorted.

This was what John wrote about concerning the disciples in 1 John 1:1-2 NLT

‘We proclaim to you the one who existed from the beginning, whom we have heard and seen. We saw him with our own eyes and touched him with our own hands. He is the Word of life. [2] This one who is life itself was revealed to us, and we have seen him. And now we testify and proclaim to you that he is the one who is eternal life. He was with the Father, and then he was revealed to us.

These disciples knew Jesus through their testimony of Him , based on their experience of Him. They witnessed him do miracles, they touched him, saw things first hand that spoke to them about the goodness of God, and this became a part of their revelation of Jesus.
That, like my experience and testimony, is something that no one can take away from them.

Ultimately, the written word of God( the bible ) is the surest and the absolute truth, and every thing else is subject to it but you should never underestimate your testimony, your experience of the goodness of God because that is your weapon, your weapon for overcoming according to Revelation 12:11 NLT

‘And they have defeated him by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony. And they did not love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.’

Your experience of a miracle, your experience of the goodness of God, in any area of your life works as a track record for when a situation that seems insurmountable arises. Like the disciples, you will be able to say, if God brought me out of a situation in the past, He can and will bring me out of any present situation; that is relaying on God’s faithfulness, considering Him and His word trustworthy.

God is trustworthy because His word is true,  His word has a track record and based on that track record,  we have assurance and like people who have been before us, we can put our confidence in His word.

Are you presently facing challenges and sometimes wonder how you would come out of this one? Rather than look to the problem or challenge,  look to God’s faithfulness.  Be like Joseph, who, when tempted by Potiphar’s wife, considered God rather than the situation.  Joseph recognised that though he had been through rough patches in the past , God’s faithfulness had brought him out and opened doors for him, so that was the confidence he had when this other challenge came, he did not forget the goodness of God towards him and that enabled him overcome the challenge of Potiphar’s wife.

Why not take some time this week to remember and reflect on the things that God has done for you in the past. Write them down if you can, and like a songwriter said, “Count your blessings,  name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.”
When you remember past victories,  then today’s battles won’t be so daunting!

Every blessing
Kingdom.

  1. So reassuring. Looking unto Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith. I remember when faith and strength failed me during my mother’s burial. With traditions that seem daunting, God showed up for me. There are many instances He has proved His faithfulness. God is not just able, He is faithful and true to His own. Thanks Kay.
