Crying in the rain

Difficult times and seasons come to everyone. No one is immune from a challenge. That said, today,  I would like to particularly speak to that person who is going through so much and not be able to speak about it, a state termed ‘crying in the rain’.

You are walking around,  trying to put up a brave face, being strong for everyone, but deep down, you are in anguish, soaking your night pillow with your own tears.

Having a good ear to listen is often half way in therapy and getting the wisdom to either effect Change or connect with the right agent of change is a blessing, but what if you find yourself in a situation where there is neither a ear to listen nor a voice to offer counsel,  what do you do ?

This passage of scripture always brings me so much peace and direction when I find myself in any sticky situation. I remind myself of what David did and also remind myself to take a leaf from David’s book.

“Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God. “
1 Samuel 30:6 NKJV

The passage of scripture said David was distressed. According to the dictionary definition,  to be distressed is an adjective, which means : “suffering from extreme anxiety, sorrow, or pain.”

This is a description of a lot of people today. There are so many people who find themselves in these types of  situation and are not able to talk freely about these things,  for fear of being judged.

Anxiety, sorrow, and pain are not from God, and it is not of God, and they shouldn’t have a place in your life.
If you are going through a situation that is causing you anxiety,  this is the recommendation from God’s word ( which is tested and tried).

“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; [7] and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4: 6-7 NKJV

You see, the things that cause anxiety can not be from God as the root of anxiety is fear. Fear that things are going to go worse and that prevents you from seeing hope and light in that situation, so you need to speak to them.

Sometimes, before speaking,  we need to do what David did. He encouraged himself in the Lord. ( another way of saying he drew courage from God ) By doing that, he was changing his position by reminding himself of God’s promises for him, by reminding himself of victories of the past , by not focusing on his present state or situation but looking to the one who had taken him through countless battles.

These memories brought strength to David, and then he sought direction on what to do.
You may not have anyone to talk to, but you have the word of God. Get your phone or tablet or any device you use, go to Google, and search for bible verses about depression, sickness, or anything you are dealing with. Go to those verses and read them aloud.  Read them over and over until they begin to drown any voices in your head.

Start speaking to your situation as one who has authority ( you have the authority of Christ). Tell your situation what you want to see and refuse to focus on  the things that are wrong. There is power in your words, and there is power in your thought process.  Start changing your thoughts to line up with your words and see yourself not just come out of the pit but also experience a change in your situation.

Please send me an email if you need prayers for anything or if you just want to talk

Every blessing
