I said these very words to a young man yesterday on his 19th birthday and later questioned myself for it. You see, the young man in question is not someone I know very well, I have only been introduced to him recently and that made me think after I said it if it was an appropriate thing to say as I didn’t know much about him.

During my  contemplation,a thought came to mind, which is the focus of today’s blog. Is he amazing because of the things he has done, or is he amazing because he is someone created in God’s image.

Of course, good deeds are great, as we see in the following passage:

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
Galatians 6:10 NIV

Appreciating good deeds is commendable, but does the good deed make the individual who they are, or are they already made special?

Psalm 139 has something to say about that:

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.”
Psalm. 139: 14

Every human being was created wonderful, and no one was made more wonderful than the other!
Now, we all have different birth circumstances,  upbringing, and life experiences, but nothing can take away the worth and value that God placed in us as humans.

I heard a story once of a £50 note, which, due to many factors, was almost unrecognisable. It was worn out , torn, muddy, and scruffy, yet when taken to the bank, it had the same value as the new minted notes in the vault.

You may be one who life has dealt a bad hand , or one who has taken so many wrong turns that you are beaten beyond recognition. You could be the one responsible for other people’s misery and feel like you are beyond saving.

I have good news for you! Like the £50 note, your worth and value are not in your experiences but in the One who has made you and called you wonderful!

As you turn today to your creator,  ask Him to help you find yourself in Him.  To help you discover your worth because, believe it or not, you are amazing!
