You are not alone

Romans 11:2-6 TPT
God has not rejected his chosen, destined people! Haven’t you heard Elijah’s testimony in the Scriptures and how he prays to God, agonizing over Israel? [3] “Lord, they’ve murdered your prophets; they’ve demolished your altars. Now I’m the only one left and they want to kill me!” [4] But what was the revelation God spoke to him in response? “You are not alone. For I have preserved a remnant for myself—seven thousand others who are faithful and have refused to worship Baal.” [5] And that is but one example of what God is doing in this age of fulfillment, for God’s grace empowers his chosen remnant. [6] And since it is by God’s grace, it can’t be a matter of their good works; otherwise, it wouldn’t be a gift of grace, but earned by human effort.

We live in a generation and time where there is so much attack on the body of Christ. Some of the experiences of the church today may not have been imagined by people of previous generations. On a daily basis, we see and hear about the assaults on the truth of God’s word, people going through unimaginable pressures at work, school or in society in general because of their faith and some losing their jobs because they took a stand.

In all these chaotic situations, it can sometimes feel lonely and isolated, even perhaps overwhelming as the feeling of ‘man verses the world ‘ creeps in.

This was the type of scenario Elijah found himself in the bible passage above. His life was threatened by the authorities of his time because of his
obedience to God’s instructions, and as a result, Elijah ran and hid himself, thinking he was the only one left who was standing for the truth.

This was a lie of the enemy to distract Elijah, and it is still a lie told to anyone who listens today. One of the essence of this lie is to turn your attention from God to yourself. When the attention is on you, you see your smallness in comparison to the wickedness out there, and in fear, you begin to lose hope. How can you alone affect change when everyone is doing or believing something different? This and many more questions begin to bombard your mind and not long after, you either start to compromise (in other to avoid being swallowed up) or you hide away in fear and become irrelevant, though alive.

Well, thank God there is good news in all these, and the good news is that YOU ARE NOT ALONE. There are believers in Jesus and in the finished work of the cross all across the globe. There are people out there who are not compromising their faith who are standing on the truth. There are believers who still believe, pray, fellowship together, evangelise, lead the Christian lifestyle, not because they are superheroes in themselves but because they have the right focus, they look to Jesus, who according to scriptures is already seated at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12: 1 – 2). This suggests that the believers walk is a walk in victory, not towards victory.

They know they do not walk in their own strength nor by any human standards.
When your focus is on God, you will always see how small and inconsequential every other thing is. You will appreciate that your faithfulness to stand irrespective of what is thrown at you is a direct result of God’s grace and as you see and understand the depth of His grace, you will thrive in your walk, you will shine as lights, knowing that you are here for such a time as these!

Much Blessings
