The best way to resist temptations

There are temptations all around. There are dangling carrots in the form of desires, wants, and pressures, calling out our names and street numbers. Compromising situations throwing themselves at us if we let them and since ‘everyone’ around us is yeilding and living in them, these temptations seem all normal and natural. So natural infact that we tend to be the odd ones for not yielding to them.
I must state that the devil is real, his wiles are real, and temptations are real, but as real as they are, you have the power and the right to say no to all of them.
Jesus stated in Matthew 28: 18

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

If there is any form of authority ever in existence in heaven, earth or hell, this scripture tells us that that authority belongs to Jesus and if all authority belong to Jesus, then there is non left for the devil so why do so many people still fall under his sneer and do his beading ? One of the first things that come to mind is ignorance. So many Christians are ignorant of who they are and what have been made available to them, so they suffer unnecessarily, I might add.

A second reason apart from ignorance which so many people fall into is the unwillingness to live the life of the Spirit. To some, it is easier to live and walk in the flesh even though the cost of this is quite detrimental. If you have been called from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light, it is only natural that you seek to know how this new kingdom operates so as to benefit from all that this kingdom has to offer and to do this, the book of James , chapter four and verse seven tell us to Submit to God.

Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.James 4:7 NKJV

The act of submission is one that is undertaken by the one doing the submitting. You have to submit yourself to God, God will not force you into submission. It is entirely your choice.
According to that passage of scripture, submitting to God is an automatic resistance to the devil because you can not be doing 2 opposing things at the same time. When you yield yourself to God, you can not at the same time yield to Satan and his temptations. Likewise, when you yield to Satan, you can not be submitted to God.
Submission is a continuous process, a constant yielding of every aspect of oneself to a greater authority, willingly.Submission is remembering that our old man and it’s desires have been crucified with Christ according to Galatians 2:20( nkjv)

I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.

So, with all the oppositions around you, rather than fighting with everything you’ve got and still feel like you are drowning, just ask yourself what God’s word says about that situation and surrender to the word of God, which is His counsel. Choosing to do what the word says over how you feel is submitting to God.
So, if ever the question arises as to how you can resist the devil and all that is thrown at you, the answer is simple. Submit to God.

Much Blessings
Kingdom
